At least 61 people were killed, 165 more were injured as a result of a terrorist attack on  police training centre near Quetta, Pakistan late Monday night, The Express Tribune reported.

Earlier it was reported that there were 60 killed and 122 wounded.

Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti told reporters assembled at the site early Tuesday that the sprawling compound had been attacked by three militants equipped with suicide jackets, revising down an earlier estimate of “five to six” assailants. Two of them managed to activate the explosive, the third terrorist was killed by security officers.

In total, over 700 cadets were in the academy during the attack, most of them were asleep. Most of them run from the territory of the academy, the part was withdrawn by security forces.

Militant group Islamic State on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack on Police Training College. Following the deadly attack, CM Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri announced three days of mourning across the province.
