YEREVAN. - Armenian Premier Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday received Chairman of Gazprom JSC Management Committee, Alexey Miller. 

The sides discussed the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the area of energy, its development prospects, as well as a wide scope of issues related to the activity of Gazprom in Armenia.

Karapetyan positively assessed the implementation of gas and energy projects, which are aimed at the development of the area in Armenia. He also noted that Gazprom has the largest investment package in Armenia. Apart from this, the Premier added that the programs aimed at the energy security of the country, provision of reliable and regular gas supply and large investment projects were implemented due to the readiness and immediate efforts of Gazprom.

For his part, Alexey Miller congratulated Karapetyan on being appointed Armenian Premier, wishing him productive work. Recording the positive results of the long-term work, Miller stressed that Armenia has a high percentage (96 percent) of gasification and reliable gas supply system. He assured that Gazprom is henceforth also ready to carry out all the tasks set before the company in Armenia.

Noting the diversified peculiarity of Gazprom Armenia’s activity, Miller also underscored the importance of the fifth electrical power unit of Hrazdan HPP and the efficiency of the further operation of Abovyan’s underground gas supply station.

Stressing the social responsibility component of Gazprom’s activity, Miller noted that the construction of the multi-functional educational and sports complex is underway, this being Gazprom’s contribution to the future of the young Armenian generation.

Apart from this, the Premier and Chairman of Gazprom JSC Management Committee referred to a number of other issues of mutual interest.

Karen Karapetyan awarded Alexey Miller with Armenian Premier’s medal for the latter’s significant input in developing and enhancing the economic ties between Armenia and Russia.
