YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper has learned that those within the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) are scratching their heads as to which of the party posts they should “give” to Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, reported the newspaper.

“The post shall reflect his high position in the Republican Party; the factor of his being the [RPA] second man, after [President and party chairman] Serzh Sargsyan.

“To this end, an option is also discussed, according to which, PM Karen Karapetyan could be given the post of Chairman of the RPA Board[, which Sargsyan also holds at present]; that is, Serzh Sargsyan will be chairman of the party, whereas Karen Karapetyan—chairman of the [party] board.

“A similar mechanism was used at the time for Serzh Sargsyan, when he became a member of the RPA in July, 2006,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
