YEREVAN. – The Electoral Code of Armenia does not give Armenians living abroad the right to vote.
Zaruhi Postanjyan, who heads the opposition “Heritage” [Party] National Assembly (NA) Faction, stated the aforesaid at Friday’s NA briefings.
In her words, the election system in Armenia has remained clan-based and divided between thirteen territorial administrative regions, in each of which local oligarchs will help the authorities stay in power.
“So that the elections [in Armenia] be ‘nationwide,’ in the true sense of this word, Armenians who are living outside the borders of Armenia, in large colonies, also must vote [in these elections],” added Postanjyan.
