On December 7, Georgian Court of Appeal “considered” the case and left unchanged the verdict by Court of First Instance on Armenian citizen Artashes Melkonyan without holding a court session.

36-year-old Melkonyan, RA citizen, who lives and works in Russia, was arrested and sentenced to 2,5 imprisonment after crossing Upper Lars checkpoint.

The court delivered a judgment without facts, circumstances and witnesses.

Melkonyan is also debarred from seeing his family. Mekonyan’s relatives place their hopes on European Court of Human Rights, as they do not want to deceive themselves Armenia will demand an adequate approach from Georgia.
