Famous French actor Gerard Depardieu met with Azerbaijani Tourism and Culture Minister Abulfas Garayev in Baku. They discussed issues related to cooperation in film making and realization of several projects.

However, at the press conference following the meeting journalists failed to speak of political issues with the French star. “I do not like to speak of politics. I hate aggression and anger, I believe in a human being, not ideology,” he said, AZE.az reported.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Gerard Depardieu arrived in Baku to participate in IV International Rostropovich Festival. On December 13, the French actor will perform for Baku audience in “Carmen” play and will also read excerpts from “Carmen” by Prosper Merimee in the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

In early September Gerard Depardieu arrived in Armenia within the framework of “Karot” festival. At the meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan the French actor said he is well acquainted with the descendants of Armenian Genocide victims residing in Armenia. “I know all the representatives of the Armenian community in France, and I am proud of and grateful for being in Armenia now. I really feel like Armenian here,” Depardieu said. He named the outstanding representatives of the Armenian community in France, particularly Henri Verneuil (Ashod Malakian), Jean Jansem and Charles Aznavour.
