The Armenian Genocide resolution does not stand a high chance of being adopted by the U.S. Congress, Vahagn Dadrian, an Armenian-American scholar, told NEWS.am.

The U.S. Congress is unlikely to adopt the Armenian Genocide resolution. Turkey’s admission to NATO reduced the chances of the resolution, as such decisions are made for political rather than moral reasons, he said. On the other hand, he warned against attaching great importance to the resolution as it is a merely formal document.

The resolution is most likely to be discussed by the U.S. Congress early next year. Many experts think the document will have higher chances after a new Congress has been formed. Also, amid the recent tension in the Turkish-Israeli relations, the Jewish lobby in the U.S. is expected to work in favor of the Armenian Genocide resolution.
