The re-establishment of the PACE Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh is PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu’s victory, an expert in Turkic studies Artak Shakaryan told Armenian news NEWS.am.

According to him, it will be good if a boycott by the Armenian delegation at CE Parliamentary Assembly helps to dissolve the subcommittee on Karabakh.  If it continues its activities, whether we like it or not, we have to join the game.

Commentating on the question whether Cavusoglu’s victory and the strengthening of Turkey-Azerbaijan duo will contribute to shifting Karabakh conflict resolution from OSCE Minsk Group to another format, Shakaryan said:  “I think it is impossible. The OSCE MG co-chairing countries will make every effort to hinder Turkey’s involvement in the organization. Despite good neighborly relations between Russia and Turkey, Russia will not allow the latter to increase its role in this process,” the expert emphasized.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that at its January 28 sitting the PACE Bureau decided to re-form the subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh. Mr Jordi Xuclа i Costa of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (Spain) was elected subcommittee chairman.
