American businessman of Armenian origin Kirk Kerkorian donated $ 100 million to University of California (UCLA). Funds will be used for medical research, scholarships and other projects, Los Angeles Times reports.

Last month, a graduate of UCLA Meyer Luskin, who made a fortune doing business on environmentally sustainable animal food, also donated $ 100 million to the university. The total sum, $ 200 million will be transferred to the new “Dream Fund”, which will be based at the university.

Linsey Kerkorian Foundation was founded after the Spitak earthquake in 1988 to assist the victims. Since then, apart from charitable activities in Armenia the Fund has spent more than $ 1 billion on educational and scientific projects. Last week, the Fund donated $ 10.5 million to the United Armenian Fund to repair schools in Armenia’s earthquake zone.

It is noteworthy that the UCLA has a branch in Armenia -American University of Armenia (AUA).
