The main aim of the Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian presidential meeting was to discuss and agree on further steps in implementing the trilateral statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict approved in Astrakhan, October 27, 2010, Artak Zakaryan, a Parliament member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) told journalists March 7, as he commented on the results of the March 5 presidential meeting in Sochi.
Zakaryan pointed out that after each presidential meeting the Azeri side continues its anti-Armenian propaganda and militant rhetoric intended for the domestic audience.
The MP pointed out the high importance of the Spochi meeting in that the President`s statement underlines the OSCE Minsk Group has no alternative.
The consideration of possible incidents on the line of contact, with the conflicting parties` participation and under the OSCE Minsk Group`s auspices, is aimed at causing the two states` public to change their attitude to each other. "Of course, to a great extent it concerns Azerbaijan. Armenian has always been for a peace settlement and has never resorted to militant rhetoric," Zakaryan said.
Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that, after considering the implementation of the Astrakhan statement of October 27, 2010, at their March 5 meeting in Sochi, the Presidents also agreed on the following additional steps:
1. Completing the POW exchange process as soon as possible;
2. Settling all the disputable issues in a peaceful way and investigating possible incidents on the line of contact with the parties` participation, under the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs` auspices and with the assistance of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
The Presidents pointed out the high importance of their regular contacts over the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and agreed on further contacts, in addition to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs` activities.
