If there is a conflict, the sides have different views on settlement of the problem and should negotiate to come to an agreement, said Armenian Premier.

Speaking at European Parliament’s committee on foreign affairs Tigran Sargsyan said a key principal in the Karabakh peace process is there is no alternative to peaceful resolution. As to the EU assistance in the process, Sargsyan stressed the Union should give an impetus to the conflicting parties: if any of the sides tries to settle the conflict by force, international community will impose strict sanctions against it.

“If the sides have different notions of conflict settlement, their perception of justice greatly differs. Perception of justice is a value system,” he said adding that the best assistance in peace process is formation of a common platform of values in the region.  “If we reach an agreement regarding common value system, it will be easier to reach accord regarding the conflict. From this viewpoint I believe the only way is as follows: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia and Armenia should state for them the most essential is European integration and values based on which the EU is formed,” he concluded.
