Libyan rebels retook Sirte town, Muammar Gaddafi’s hometown, Reuters reports referring to oppositional forces.

On March 27, international coalition forces launched airstrikes in Sirte town, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, Libyan state television confirmed the information on military operations on Tripoli and Sirte.

On March 27, NATO agreed to take full command of military operations in Libya.

A wave of unrest continues in Libya since February. The demonstrators protest against leader Muammar Gaddafi who has been in power for more than 40 years. Gaddafi’s opponents seized many cities in the eastern part of the country. Clashes between rebels and pro-Gaddafi forces continue.
