The EU has allocated € 7.7 million for modernization of three checkpoints in Armenia – Bagratashen, Bavra and Gogavan, Arthur Baghdasaryan, Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council, said at today’s press conference.

Armenia will get the amount within the framework of “Supporting Integrated Border Management in the South Caucasus” (SCIBM) program.

Last November Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stressed importance of creation of favorable conditions for Armenian citizens using checkpoints. In the course of his visit to Tavush region, President Sargsyan said 2-3 modern checkpoints will be built in the next two-three years.
