Russia is most actively involved in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin told journalists on Wednesday.
“Of the three OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries it is only the Russian president that is personally dealing with the problem,” Dorokhin said.
Russia feels special responsibility for the peace process and will keep on showing it by concrete steps, said the ambassador. He added that Russia acts as mediator in cooperation with the two other members of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States and France.
“We have a chance, special potential based on special relations with both parties to the conflict. We consider it our moral and historical duty to take this chance,” Ambassador Dorokhin said.
On March 5, in Russian Sochi, on the initiative and with participation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, held a meeting.
