YEREVAN. - Investigation into March 1, 2008 events and problems with judiciary system have been the focus of the Armenian authorities for three years, said Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament Samvel Nikoyan.

Nikoyan commented for Armenian News-NEWS.am on the statement of President Sargsyan that new impetus should be given to investigation into the March 1, 2008 events.

Vice Speaker who is also heading an Ad Hoc Committee into March 1 events said Serzh Sargsyan has proved his commitment to civilized and constructive stance on solving the current problems.

“I believe the opposition has realized it as well. They understood that language of ultimatum is not expedient while addressing the authorities. In fact statement of opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan that king-boxing should be replaced by chess proves ANC accepts president’s calls for a civilized dialogue,” said Vice Speaker. “Playing chess one should not forget who is the head of chess federation of Armenia [President Sargsyan]. He is surrounded by the best chess players.”
