Turkish President Abdullah Gul’s spouse visited famous Turkish artist Bedri Baykam, who had recently been stabbed in the street.

Baykam’s wife confirmed that first lady of Turkey Hayrunisa Gul visited her husband in hospital and wished him health, Radikal newspaper reports.

She also stressed that Turkish President Abdullah Gul called her husband, but she was not at hospital and was unaware of the content of their conversation.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Baykam had recently criticized Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a press conference for demolition of the monument to Armenian-Turkish friendship in Kars. Following his speech, Baykam and his assistants were attacked and stabbed in the street. Later, the criminal surrendered voluntarily to police.
