YEREVAN. - Azerbaijani leadership is trying to break stereotype of a loser of its soldiers by violating ceasefire regime and committing provocations, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said in an interview with Armenian Public TV.

“These actions help Armenian society and the army come together and act decisively. Such moves definitely have domestic and external political reasons,” he said.

Referring to intensive actions of Azerbaijani snipers as a result of which Armenian soldiers and civilians are killed, Ohanyan said that the so-called war of snipers gives no advantage to the sides.

“Actions of snipers get an adequate response,” he said adding that the opponent is punished and incurs more losses. Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media presents the facts in its own way.

The Minster stressed snipers’ actions are violation of the reached agreements and should get an adequate assessment by the international community. “Doing so Azerbaijani side wants to keep situation tensed in the line of contact and affect the peace process,” Ohanyan concluded.
