YEREVAN. - Deauville statement on Nagorno-Karabakh stipulates demands and specific deadlines, unlike the previous statements by the Presidents of Russia, U.S. and France, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan stated in an interview with Public Television of Armenia. “The co-chairing countries expect and demand from the sides to reach an agreement at the president’s meeting in Kazan in June,” he noted.

As for Azerbaijan’s response to the Presidents’ statement, Kocharyan said: “In fact, Baku is in panic, as the statement says that the use of force created the current situation of confrontation and instability. Its use again would only bring more suffering and devastation, and would be condemned by the international community. Obviously, this is a hint at Azerbaijan, which is trying to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by military means, aggression, ethnic cleansings and goes on rattling the sabre.

Referring to Azeri officials’ responses to the trilateral statement, Kocharyan said that Azerbaijan tried to issue bad threats. “For instance, commenting on the Presidents’ statement, the Azerbaijani Vice Prime Minister said: “Today we can launch a war and nobody has a right to intervene in this matter.” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is also trying to present something out of reality, speaks of the necessity of withdrawal of Armenian forces and return of some communities. This is reminiscent of woodgrouse’s behavior, which is always singing without hearing anything. Azerbaijan is always singing a boring song, and consequently, does not hear anything. Let me remind you that hunters make use of grouse’s behavior. The time has come for Azerbaijan to come back to reality, stop falsifying the negotiating table,” Kocharyan stressed.

The Armenian Deputy FM emphasized that Azerbaijani authorities can deceive their own society, but it is obvious what the presidents wrote in black and white in the statement.
