YEREVAN. Following the meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents in Kazan, a joint statement may be adopted, as the Minsk Group co-chairing countries are making every possible effort to achieve progress in the Karabakh negotiation process, Speaker of Nagorno-Karabakh National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan told reporters in Yerevan.

According to him, Karabakh authorities are not so much optimistic about the presidents’ upcoming meeting, as Azerbaijan goes on pursing its policy, particularly introducing news elements in the conflict resolution and issuing warlike statements.

“An agreement may be reached at Kazan meeting, however, a stalemate is not ruled out either. If the process reaches an impasse, the negotiations will be underway and discussions will enter a new stage in autumn. We should use all methods of parliamentary diplomacy to present our countries’ stance on the conflict settlement,” Ghulyan noted.

Referring to the Azerbaijan’s possible provocations in the line of contact on the sidelines of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents’ meeting in Kazan, Ghulyan said: “Karabakh defense army is ready to give e retaliatory fire to the enemy every day and every hour. I believe Baku’s previous provocations and our response to Azerbaijan should serve as a lesson,” he stressed.

Ghulyan emphasized that Nagorno-Karabakh will sooner or later be involved in the negotiations as a full-fledge member of the talks. “For this very purpose, at the last meeting with the co-chairs NKR President emphasized that we see the participation of Karabakh in all stages of the peace process,” Ghulyan concluded.
