YEREVAN.- Making predictions about the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents is a thankless job, said Lithuania’s envoy to Armenia Giedrius Apuokas.

He hailed positive holding of such meetings noting the most important thing is to avoid a military conflict.

Ambassador Apuokas stressed that the sides reached progress on some issues during the last meeting.

Even if progress is not achieved in Kazan, one should welcome initiative of Russian President and OSCE Co-Chairs  he told journalists on Monday.

Commenting on resolution of the Karabakh conflict in the context of Lithuania’s chairmanship in the OSCE, Apuokas noted that settlement of frozen conflicts is among Lithuania’s priorities.

Lithuania welcomes all the steps of the OSCE Minsk Group and supports the statement made by the presidents of co-chairing states.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev are scheduled to meet in Kazan in late June
