The document on the basic principles of Karabakh conflict resolution may be approved at the meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents’ late-June meeting in Kazan, expert who previously was involved in preparation of the talks, told ITAR-TASS.

“The document “Basic principles of Karabakh conflict resolution” may be signed and presented as a significant progress in agreement of the text,” he stressed.

Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev will arrive in Kazan on June 24 to attend a traditional Russian President’s Cup horse race at the invitation of Dmitry Medvedev, says the statement issued on Russian president’s website.

During а regular trilateral meeting the sides plan to discuss the issues related to resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Robert Bradtke (U.S.) and Bernard Fassier (France) paid a visit to the region on June 6-9. The mediators also took part in the monitoring in the line of contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.

Presidents of Russia, France and U.S. issued a joint statement on Nagorno-Karabakh.

“We call upon the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to demonstrate their political will by finalizing the Basic Principles during their upcoming summit in June.  Further delay would only call into question the commitment of the sides to reach an agreement.  Once an agreement has been reached, we stand ready to witness the formal acceptance of these Principles, to assist in the drafting of the peace agreement, and then to support its implementation with our international partners,” they said in the statement.
