YEREVAN. - Two circumstances that can influence the negotiation process have changed before the meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in Kazan, said director of Noravank foundation Gagik Harutyunyan to a press conference on Thursday.

According to political analyst, the activity of snipers on the contact line between Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces decreased.

“Despite the ongoing shootings on the contact line, no one is killed. This circumstance can be conditioned with the call of the three presidents in Deauville, as well as the relevant answer of Armenian side.

Moreover the statement of the Chief of Main Operations Directorate of Russian Federation General Staff Andrei Tretiak on the fact that in event of hostilities in Karabakh, Russia will not stand aside, gives additional confidence to Yerevan."

Harutyunyan emphasized that for the first time in 10 years the Russian side stated it would not be aloof towards the developments.

"Consequently, there is a balance that allows the Armenian side to be more confident in Kazan meeting.
