YEREVAN. – Armenia’s recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh will derail the negotiation process, deputy director of Caucasus institute Sergey Minasyan told at a press conference.

According to the expert, Azerbaijan in that case will either start war or abstain from doing it, showing inability of its military rhetoric. In both cases either swift resolution of the Karabakh conflict or involvement of Stepanakert in talks should not be expected, as Baku will never agree to it.

As for changing the format of Karabakh talks or EU involvement in the process, Minasyan believes it is not likely. The OSCE Minsk group is the most professional one in dealing with the Karabakh issue, he added.

“There is a certain limit beyond which Armenia will not compromise. It is the status of Karabakh, ensuring land contact with Armenia and security guarantees,” the expert said.
