Indian city Chennai officially claimed for holding World chess championship match in spring 2012 between Viswanathan Anand and World championship challenger Boris Gelfand, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told Sport Express newspaper.

FIDE currently has two official applications from Moscow and Chennai. However, London and Minsk also show interest in holding the championship match. The deadline for the Anand - Gelfand bids is July 31.
