PACE Monitoring Co-Rapporteurs to arrive in Armenia

YEREVAN. - PACE Monitoring Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia John Prescott and Axel Fischer will visit Yerevan on a fact-finding mission today.

The visit aims to discuss latest developments in the field of amnesty and improvement of political environment, as well as electoral reforms and preparations for 2012 elections, the PACE press service reports.

The co-rapporteurs will meet with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, as well as representatives of extra-parliamentary opposition, particularly with Armenia’s first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Today meetings are planned at Armenian National Assembly. The visit will end on July 21.

The co-rapporteurs will present a report on Armenia’s democratic institutions to PACE in October 2011.
