NEW YORK. – Armenia and Diaspora become continuation of each other day by day, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a solemn reception organized by the Armenian Embassy to U.S., Permanent Mission of Armenia in UN, and American-Armenian organizations.
“I am proud of having such compatriots and such a reception in New York. I welcome you and congratulate for the 20th anniversary of all-Armenians’ homeland - Armenia’s independence,” the President stated and added that Armenia and Diaspora are not only linked by blood, past, and history but also by the current day and the future.
Armenians should build their future together. Our people should realize the common dream about prosperous and well-being Armenia with united efforts, he added.
"It is impossible to have a prosperous Armenia without the efforts and contribution of Diaspora. All the spheres should be available for the Diaspora, especially foreign policy. We should not avoid asking advice from Diaspora, listening to the viewpoint and taking into account the experience. Meanwhile, we should not escape its criticism.
We should do everything to be understood mutually, regarding especially to the preservation of the Armenians and important issues of national interest. We should identify our goals and agenda and get use of various tools to turn them into wealth and guarantee of effectiveness," stressed Sargsyan.
Armenian president thanked the U.S. government and people for warm reception, significant assistance during the years of independence, as well as the assistance in the process of regulating relations with Turkey and the constant attention to our compatriots, living in the U.S.
