YEREVAN. – Coordinating Council of defending Armenians’ rights in Javakhk will continue efforts in support of Vahagn Chakhalyan, ruling Armenian Republican Party MP Shirak Torosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Armenian Vahagn Chakhalyan declared hunger strike in the high security prison of Rustavi city, Georgia, where he has to serve ten years of imprisonment. According to him, prison administration takes measures against him, humiliating honor and dignity.

“NGOs protest all the time and we are with them. The Council has also sent an open letter to French President Nikolas Sarkozy. It is difficult for me to say what an outcome will be by such an extreme measure. However, it was caused by hard conditions and pressures,” MP stated.

Torosyan is from Javakhk but he cannot go there and clarify the situation in the scene as his entry to Georgia is banned, MP added.
