YEREVAN.- It is ridiculous to accuse the OSCE Minsk Group of artificial protracting the Karabakh peace process and putting obstacles, expert for CIS Institute Mikhail Alexandrov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier official representative of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elchin Huseynli said the OSCE Minsk Group creates opportunities for artificial protraction the Karabakh peace process.

“Baku’s pressure imposed on the mediators is aimed at inclining them to the Azerbaijani side. Accusations are ridiculous. Settlement is possible only in case both sides try to reach compromise but Azerbaijan does not want to concede,” he said.

According to the expert, Azerbaijan wants to get everything back just as it was before the collapse of the Soviet Union.

“The war, massacres of Armenians, destruction in Nagorno-Karabakh, thousands of refugees, yet Azerbaijan wants everything back. It is impossible, Baku has to make concessions and recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh in exchange for the seven surrounding regions, as this option is still possible. Unless Baku agrees to compromise, there will be no progress,” Alexandrov said.
