YEREVAN. – Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan does not believe that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili could have accused Armenia for not having worked effectively in the landslide zone in Tavush region.

“I do not believe that Georgia’s President could have stated such a thing. Journalists must have misrepresented his speech. Georgia is Armenia’s neighbor and is well aware of our capabilities to react the dangers,” Yeritsyan stated.

Armenian News-NEWS.am earlier informed that Saakashvili recalled the landslide, which claimed five lives.

“I do not want to say anything bad about Armenia, they are our friends, but [Georgia’s State Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure] Ramaz Nikolaishvili has found solutions for more complicated situations, in several hours,” Saakashvili claimed.

He added that Georgia has offered assistance to Armenia but the latter rejected it.
