YEREVAN. – In line with expert estimations by Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, over 800 thousand tourists are expected to visit the country in 2011, and this number was 680 thousand in the year past, Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan stated during a press conference on Friday.  

According to initial estimates, 580 thousand tourists visited Armenia between January and September 2011, which is an 18-percent increase in comparison with the same time period last year. Also, the number of tourists staying at hotels has increased, as this number was 28,500 in the first six months of 2010, whereas 52,500 in the same time period for this year.  

Also this year, more number of tourists are visiting Armenia from Great Britain, Germany, and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries.
