YEREVAN. – Oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) intends for more realistic scenario for the upcoming parliamentary elections, political scientist Manvel Sargsyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s statement made at the rally on Friday.

Ter-Petrosyan had stated that the opposition will make efforts in achieving snap elections. However, if the developments of the political situation change, ANC will strive to have seats in the Parliament, in order to demand the immediate impeachment of the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan.

“Existing conditions prove that it is difficult for Armenia to hold snap elections. Thus, the opposition gets ready for the regular elections,” Manvel Sargsyan said. “The issue is for far future and carried theoretic character. No political power has yet responded to the ANC, however, it does not exclude any cooperation with an interested power, even with Prosperous Party of Armenia (PPA).”

Armenian current authorities act according to ‘who is not with us, is against us’ principle. Inside the coalition, it means ‘we are the sole axis.’ However, PPA, which is in coalition, seems to establish its own axis. If ANC really intends to hold fair elections, then it is difficult to say what ANC expects from PPA, which is an oligarchic party, the expert stated.
