TEHRAN.- The 18th International Exhibition of Press and News Agencies is over in Tehran.

The event has brought together more than 100 international media representatives from around 50 countries. Armenia was represented at the exhibition by Armenian News-NEWS.am and Armedia news agencies.

Talking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondents, some participants of the exhibition shared their opinions and impressions.

Sidi Abubakari Yusuf Mgumia, representing Tanzania-based The African newspaper, stressed that the event provides an opportunity to learn much about work of foreign colleagues.

In his turn, representative of Poland, member of the International Federation of Journalists Sylwester Szafarz said that creation of the Press Union of the Islamic World opens up new perspectives and will probably create prerequisites for the formation of world journalists’ organization.

“Journalist’s main mission is to educate society. Bringing up each other with the help of media we will eliminate the existing information gap and will be able to avoid conflict of civilizations,” he said.

Journalist from Uzbekistan Tadjibay Ikromov stressed he was impressed by the exhibition. “I could not imagine that it is possible to gather numerous journalists under one roof,” he emphasized.

Asked to comment on the results of the event, organizer of the event Mohammad Javad Aghajari, Director General of Foreign Media department, Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance told Armenian News-NEWS.am the journalists themselves should speak of the outcome.

“We would be able to speak about the results only after the journalists return home and write articles about their trip to the Islamic Republic. I believe we achieved success last year,” he said.
