Istanbul- based Aras publishing house published Nouritza Matossian’s book “Black Angel”, telling about the life of renowned Armenian artist Arshile Gorky.

The publication, which is the result of 20-year work and research, describes the life of Gorky from the very birth in Van, till his suicide in the U.S. The introduction says that Hrant Dink was eager to see the book translated into Turkish.

Arshile Gorky (Vostanik Manuk Adoyan) was born in 1904 in Khorgom village of Van province. He migrated to Eastern Armenia during the Genocide, but later settled in the U.S. In 1948 he suffered a car accident and got his right arm disabled. Unable to overcome the blow of fate Gorki committed suicide in 1948.

Arshile Gorki is one of the founders of abstract expressionism and is remembered among the greatest artists of 20th century.
