President of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan visited on Friday Argentinean Council on Foreign Relations (CARI) located in capital Buenos Aires to deliver a lecture.

President touched upon the Karabakh-Argentina relations, state building in the NKR, domestic and foreign policy of our country, the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict settlement and regional developments.

President Sahakyan noted that Latin America direction occupies special place in the NKR’s foreign policy agenda, which is stipulated both by large Armenian community living there and by the growing importance of the region in the international arena.

Bako Sahakyan underlined peculiar role of developing relations with Argentina, which Karabakh considers as a friendly and fraternal state. President Sahakyan expressed gratitude to the Argentinean Republic for its attitude towards our compatriots and nation. According to Bako Sahakyan, the state which allowed our compatriots escape from the 1915 Genocide and find their new homeland here deserves  appreciation.  

Speaking of the history of the Karabakh issue the President noted that it emerged in when a state named Azerbaijan, which that never existed in history before, was formed in Transcaucasus with the immediate involvement of the Ottoman Turkey. Since the very first moment of its formation this new state put territorial claims before all the neighboring countries aiming to create a land border with the Ottoman Turkey and form a Pan-Turkish state.

Touching upon the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict settlement Bako Sahakyan underlined that the official Stepanakert stands exclusively for peaceful solution of all the questions with Azerbaijan through immediate dialogue. The President stressed that Karabakh's independence and security cannot be subject to any speculations. The President considered the destructive stance of Azerbaijan, its extremist and belligerent anti-Armenian policy, carried out on the highest state level, a pivotal obstacle to the negotiation process.
