YEREVAN. – Turkish parliament speaker Cemil Cicek is like a student who has learned his lesson by heart but has understood nothing, and he repeated the Azerbaijani propaganda’s legends concerning refugees and occupied territories, Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said, commenting on the Turkish parliament speaker’s recent statement.

“How cynical must be, to speak about occupation, the representative of a country which has occupied the territory of another, an EU-member, country for several decades on? What serious problems must the leader of the parliament of the country, which has turned the denial of crime against humanity into state policy, have with ethics, that he can speak about the incidents in Khojalu, and, furthermore, blame the Armenian side for those victims?”

In Eduard Sharmazanov’s words, “using the commemorations of[former Azerbaijani president] Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the despotic regime and the founder of the traditions of personality cult in Azerbaijan, as a platform for making false statements against Armenia, show the Turkish authorities’ lack of integrity and obsession to distort the facts.”
