YEREVAN.- Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan will celebrate the New Year with his family at home and will probably go to the countryside after January 2.

“I do not like either give or receive presents. Buying presents requires time which I do not have. It is my wife’s business. I like to choose something myself, that is why I do not usually like the present I get. The best present for me is a birth of a child. The best present I recently got was a birth of my son on December 20, 2004,” he told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Minister says he is not good at cooking and prefers help his family by hammering in nails, placing Christmas tree, moving the table and other things like this.

“I do not like eating and drinking much. Usually I prefer to drink a glass of whisky or vodka, that’s it,” he said.

Minister Davtyan said that his New Year celebration does not differ from others’. He listens to President’s speech and opens Champaign at midnight.

“We have a tradition: each year at 00:05 Santa comes to bring the presents. When I was a child Santa brought them for me, now for my kids. They hurry to open the door but do not see Santa, just the presents. It is our secret technique,” Davtyan emphasized.

Asked what he would ask Santa, Tigran Davtyan said he would ask to give him more free time to spend with his family.

“I want stability, no global crisis, and then we will rest,” he said.
