TBILISI. – The Karabakh conflict is a “challenge” for Georgia, the latter’s new National Security Concept notes.

Also according to this document, “the resumption of armed resistance between Armenia and Azerbaijan will weaken the security of all three countries of the South Caucasus and contribute to the growth of Russia’s influence in the region.”

In the Concept, Georgia’s relations with Armenia are qualified as “close partnership,” and those with Azerbaijan, as strategic.

“Traditional good neighborly relations connect Georgia with Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the document also reads, adding that Georgia views Turkey as a “leading regional partner.”

To note, Georgia’s new National Security Concept was approved during its parliament’s special session on Friday.
