YEREVAN. – If Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections receive a positive evaluation by European observers, the government, which will be formed as a result of these elections, will receive hefty donations from the European Union, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.

“According to our information, the European Union’s ambassadors in Armenia conveyed such message to Armenia’s authorities, assuring that if the elections in May are held lawfully, Armenia will receive a one-hundred-million-euro one-lump-sum assistance. And the EU countries’ conference on Armenia will be convened by the end of the year, and as a result our country will be allocated an up to 1.5-billion euro grant. According to our information, [President] Serzh Sargsyan’s pledge to hold free and fair elections is conditioned on this very math,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
