US spending on expanding its military presence in the Caribbean has reached nearly $3 billion, Bloomberg reports.

Accordingly, the cost of the increased US military presence in the Caribbean has been $2.9 billion. One of the largest respective expenses was the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier and its accompanying strike group in the region, and this has cost the US administration about $740 million since November 2025.

From mid-November to mid-January, about 20 percent of the US Navy’s surface fleet was concentrated in the region. The cost of maintaining such a group is more than $20 million per day, Bloomberg adds.
