YEREVAN. - Rewards for killing wolves will be continued to be given in 2012. The award for each killed wolf was the same, AMD100 thousand (around $250), but the Ministry of Nature Protection offers to double the amount. For this aim the government will allocate AMD 2 million ($25,000) from the reserve fund.

The issue is included in the Government’s February 16 seating agenda.

It is stated in the report of the Ministry of Nature Protection that the increase of wolf population causes harm to animals which are registered in the Red Book.

Wolves are being killed since January 15, 2009, by the order of the Ministry of Nature Protection.
