In parallel with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump is also considering the possibility of carrying out new limited strikes on Iran, informed sources told The Wall Street Journal.
According to them, this is one of the scenarios being discussed at the White House after the failure of talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad on April 11.
A large-scale attack is also being considered as an alternative, but this option is unlikely, since Trump does not want to prolong the war and destabilize the region.
In addition, during the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the US is preparing to put pressure on allies to take on the responsibility of ensuring the safe passage of ships by sea.
But at the same time, sources stressed that Trump is still committed to a diplomatic solution to the conflict, despite possible military action.
White House officials have said that the US president is considering all additional options to put pressure on Iran.
