We have done everything on our part to open the borders between Armenia and Turkey for citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports, we have restored the checkpoint. This year, Turkey has also begun work on restoring the checkpoint on its side, we are waiting for the implementation of the agreements, the ball is not in our court. Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, member of the ruling Civil Contract party, and Armenia's special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey, told this to reporters in the NA Tuesday.

He expressed doubt that this issue is related to the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling it illogical. According to him, there is an agreement with Turkey on the restoration of the historical bridge in Ani, and the documentary issues are in the process of being resolved.

Rubinyan announced that he will not travel to Turkey to attend this year’s Antalya Diplomacy Forum, adding that additional information will be provided on Armenia's participation or non-participation in this event.

He stressed that an Armenian government delegation visits the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan on every Genocide anniversary on April 24, and assumed that it will visit again this year.

The deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament reaffirmed, however, that international recognition of the Armenian Genocide is not a priority of Armenia's current foreign policy, as it was before 1998.
