YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador to Italy, Ruben Karapetyan, paid a working visit to the city of Nardo and attended the celebrations devoted to Saint Gregory the Illuminator. 

During the official reception at Nardo City Hall, Mayor Marcello Risi and scholars Maria Rosario Tamble and Donato Giancarlo De Pascalis delivered remarks. Also, the two scholars presented their book entitled “Ties Between Armenia and Nardo: Worship of Saint Gregory the Illuminator,” MFA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

In his turn, Ambassador Karapetyan noted: “The Armenian-Italian relations are exclusive. [And] The bright example of this is Nardo, where they worship Saint Gregory the Illuminator, the first spiritual leader of the world’s first Christian state.”  

And during the private talk with the Mayor of Nardo, Ruben Karapetyan pledged to assist in developing the ties between Armenia and this Italian city.

Also in Nardo, Armenia’s ambassador met with Monsignor Domenico Caliandro—the provincial spiritual leader—and also attended the church service, in honor of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, and the city’s annual procession.  

Ruben Karapetyan also got together with local businessmen and discussed the avenues for bilateral cooperation.
