In the “State Secret” section of the Turkey’s Board of Control report on the murder case of Hrant Dink—the founder and former chief editor of Istanbul’s Agos Armenian bilingual weekly, who was gunned down in 2007 in front of his office building—serious allegations are made against the country’s police force and the gendarmerie.

The aforesaid section notes that the information, which intelligence agent Erhan Tuncel had provided back in February 2006—and according to which Yasin Hayal was getting ready to kill Dink—was sent to the Istanbul Police Department by the Trabzon Police, but this information was not sent to the Trabzon Provincial Hall and Trabzon Gendarmerie. In addition, the Trabzon Gendarmerie was clearly informed, by other intelligence sources, that a murder was being planned against Dink, Haberturk of Turkey informs.

It is also noted that Istanbul police and its intelligence unit had not carried out the requirements of the information received from Trabzon, and it had presented a false report.

The “State Secret” section also informs that there is sufficient evidence to launch an inquiry against several police and military officers, and officials.
