The Council of the European Union will discuss situation in the South Caucasus during the meeting scheduled for February 27 in Brussels.

The meeting will be held under the presidency of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

“The Council will reiterate its commitment to promoting prosperity, security, democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights throughout the South Caucasus. At the same time, the Council will emphasise the importance of finding peaceful settlements to the conflicts in the region,” reads the Council’s statement.

The situation in Syria, Egypt, Kosovo and the Middle East peace process are on the agenda as well.
