13:09, 27.02.2012 Region: World News, Azerbaijan, Iran Theme: Politics

Azerbaijan will receive Israeli drones and anti-aircraft and missile-defense systems amounting to $1.6 billion, Maariv newspaper reports.

Israeli military sources are confirming the reports. Some experts, particularly former head of Mossad Danny Yatom stated that concluding of such a major deal takes long time, and as a rule, has no direct connection to the current situation.

However, according to viewpoint of the influential Associated Press, such contract is signed in a period when the threat towards the Jewish state by Iran has sharply increased. Israeli authorities try to form a diplomatic alliance against the Ayatollahs’ regime, reports.
