YEREVAN. – Armenia’s parliamentary opposition Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun parties, and the non-parliamentary opposition bloc Armenian National Congress are holding a rally in front of the National Assembly (NA) gates. 

They demand the adoption of Heritage’s and ARF’s initiative to pass to a completely proportional election system in Armenia.   

But the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party representatives are not participating in the event, although they had expressed in favor of proportional election lists. 

The rally participants are periodically chanting “Yes to proportional, no to majority [election system].”

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, at the parliamentary opposition’s request, NA on Tuesday will discuss the proposal for making changes in the Electoral Code and passing to a completely proportional election system. And in this connection, the parliamentary opposition Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun parties, and the non-parliamentary opposition bloc Armenian National Congress will organize a rally on the same day.
