YEREVAN. – The ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) businessman MP and the Football Federation of Armenia President Ruben Hayrapetyan will not run with the majority election system in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Furthermore, if he is included in RPA’s proportional election list, he will put down his MP mandate. Hayrapetyan himself stated this, during a press conference on Thursday, and quoted President and RPA leader Serzh Sargsyan’s words that the businessmen will not be included in the list.

Ruben Hayrapetyan also informed that his very hectic schedule was the reason for changing his mind and not vying for a parliamentary seat once again.

Also, as per the MP, the development of Armenian football and the duties of an MP are incompatible. And the President has put before him the task of developing Armenian football and to pass the World Cup qualifying stage.

Ruben Hayrapetyan added that even though he will not contend in the parliamentary elections, he will use all his levers and capabilities for the sake of his party and its nominees.

But he also noted that the sole person who could convince him to change his mind and run in the elections is his best friend, his much loved and respected businessman MP, Samvel Aleksanyan.
