YEREVAN. – Armenia’s political state is sad and everything is getting worse, the opposition People’s Party Chairman Tigran Karapetyan said, during a press conference on Thursday, and added that monopoly is not good in politics, as the same clan comes to power.
“They are allowing no one to come to the parliament. They are surrounding themselves with traitors, and are comforted by that. They say: ‘Look, he was an opponent yesterday, [but] today he is by our side. So, we are good.’ But they are not saying they are the ones who generated them. They learned [this] from the Communists, and nothing has changed,” Karapetyan argued.
He also announced that he will run through the majority system in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, since his votes are being taken away in the proportional system. Tigran Karapetyan informed that he decided to contend in the elections from Electoral District No. 17 in Artashat city. He noted that it would have been good if former National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, his brother, and former Police Chief Alik Sargsyan were to compete with him at this district.
