YEREVAN. – Armenian authorities are attempting to put a stop to pro-opposition businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan’s aspirations to contend in the approaching parliamentary elections, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun (CI) daily writes.

“According to our information, the Police Force Passport and Visa Department sent a letter yesterday [Friday] to [capital Yerevan’s Electoral District] ED No. 10 [where Sukiasyan is to contend for a parliamentary seat], [and] asked [ED] not to accept as basis its official document, which was earlier given to Sukiasyan, whereby the latter was nominated MP candidate with the majority [election] system.

According to CI’s information, Sukiasyan has applied to the Administrative Court to appeal this decision,” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun writes.
